Hawaii Halekulani signs multiyear deal with film festival By Shane Nelson / June 13, 2011 Share 1 -- Halekulani Corp. officials announced a multiyear sponsorship agreement with the Hawaii International Film Festival on June 7. As a result, the event’s Fall Showcase, scheduled for Oct. 13 to 23 on Oahu, will be renamed the Hawaii International Film Festival presented by Halekulani.“Halekulani Corp. is both delighted and honored to evolve and strengthen its role with HIFF to that of Presenting Sponsor,” Peter Shaindlin, Halekulani Corp.’s COO, said in a statement. “We share a common passion and commitment to supporting the growth of the arts in both Hawaii and throughout the Asian region.” A 453-room luxury hotel in Waikiki, the Halekulani opened in 1984 and earned the No. 8 spot on Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Island Hotels rankings for 2011. The state’s largest film festival, the Hawaii International Film Festival was established in 1981 and annually features films from more than 45 countries while working to advance cultural exchange and media awareness in the Pacific Rim.
