Hawaiian Airlines charged travelers $18.1 million in baggage fees during the third quarter of last year, a new record for a single quarter for the carrier, according to a DOT report released late last month.

Hawaiian finished 11th among U.S. carriers, a list that was topped by Delta’s 233.3 million and United’s $187.2 million.

Hawaiian was 10th nationally for fees collected for reservation cancelations or changes, charging travelers $4.7 million in Q3 2012, while Delta again took the top spot with $200.4 million in change fees, according to the DOT figures.

Hawaiian is on pace this year to break an annual record of $56.5 million in baggage fees the carrier collected in 2011.
