Hawaii Island Air names new COO By Shane Nelson / April 14, 2014 Share 1 -- Island Air, a regional Hawaii carrier owned by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, has named Edward Davidson its COO. Davidson will take over for interim COO Tim Rainey. A former commander in the U.S. Navy, Davidson worked most recently as vice president of flight operations at Porter Airlines, Canada’s third-largest air carrier. Davidson also served as the senior vice president for Emirates Airline and Group in Dubai, overseeing a fleet of 135 aircraft and a 2,500-person flight crew department. Island Air recently announced plans to purchase two 71-passenger Q400 NextGen aircraft from Bombardier Aerospace for $60.9 million. The interisland carrier currently flies between Oahu, Kauai, Maui and Lanai.
