Hawaii Kauai’s Koloa Zipline offering new sunset tour By Shane Nelson / January 13, 2014 Share 1 -- Garden Isle visitors looking for a twist on an adrenaline-fueled activity will want to consider Koloa Zipline’s new Sunset Tour, Kauai’s first nighttime zip adventure. “Our Sunset Zip highlights the views of our beautiful south shore sunsets, challenges the guests to find brighter stars in the sky and dares the guests to test their senses by zipping Kauai’s longest ziplines in the dark,” Patti Jacka, a Koloa Zipline spokeswoman, said in a statement. Lasting about four hours, the tour begins when clients check in around 4:30 p.m. and are outfitted with harnesses and helmets equipped with head lanterns. Zippers then head up to the eight-line course to enjoy sunset over the lush landscape surrounding the Waita reservoir, located about 10 minutes outside of Poipu on Kauai’s southern coast. According to Jacka, the first four lines are generally done with a little daylight remaining, but the last three to four are run in the dark, including Kauai’s longest zipline, which measures 2,500 feet in total distance. Commissionable to travel agents, the Koloa Zipline Sunset Tour is $159 per person. Visit www.koloazipline.com.
