Hawaii Moana Surfrider hotel in Waikiki announces new general manager By Shane Nelson / May 25, 2015 Share 1 -- Starwood Hawaii officials named Lawrence Hanson general manager at the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa in Waikiki, earlier this month. Hanson took over for Craig Anderson, who was recently named vice president of operations at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii. Lawrence Hanson Hanson previously served as the hotel manager at the 1,634-room Sheraton Waikiki, a position he began in October 2013. Hanson spent the 13 years prior as the senior director of meetings and events for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. Earlier in his career, he was a vice president at Universal Studios Hollywood and the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Larry’s diverse experiences within the visitor industry in Los Angeles and here in Waikiki make him the ideal candidate to help carry on the legacy and the tradition of the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa,” Kelly Sanders, area managing director for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Waikiki, said in a statement.
