Hawaii New G.M. announced for Hawaii Convention Center By Shane Nelson / December 16, 2013 Share 1 -- AEG Facilities, which runs the Staples Center in Los Angeles and more than 100 other large event venues around the globe, has announced that Teri Orton will be the general manager at the Hawaii Convention Center when the company takes over operations at the 1.1 million-square-foot Oahu facility Jan. 1. A 17-year hospitality industry veteran, Orton worked most recently as vice president of Condominium Resort Marketing for the Hawaii-based Outrigger Enterprises Group. “We are very fortunate to have found in Teri an individual born and raised in the Islands with outstanding travel industry credentials and a passionate belief in the strength and marketability of Hawaii as a meetings destination,” Mike McCartney, the Hawaii Tourism Authority’s president and CEO, said in a statement. The HTA awarded AEG Facilities a five-year management contract for the Hawaii Convention Center this summer, replacing SMG Hawaii which had run the facility since its opening in 1998.
