New GM named at Oahu’s JW Marriott Ihilani Resort
By Shane Nelson
Marriott International has announced that Paul Toner is the new general manager at the 387-room JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa on Oahu, succeeding Dan Banchiu, who is retiring after 32 years with the company.
“We are pleased to have Paul return to Hawaii,” Chris Tatum, Marriott International’s area vice president for Hawaii, said in a statement. “He brings extensive hospitality experience in luxury properties from both national and international arenas and an intimate knowledge of the Islands, having spent 15 years managing sales and marketing efforts for our Hawaii hotels and resorts.”
Toner’s experience with Marriott dates back to 1985, and he worked at Marriott properties on both Maui and Kauai in the 1990s before moving to Hong Kong, where he oversaw marketing for the company’s Central Asia and Hawaii regions.
Most recently, Toner was the senior vice president and COO of RockResorts and Vail Resorts Hospitality.
