Hawaii New luau debuts at Wailea Beach Marriott By Shane Nelson / August 23, 2010 Share 1 -- The Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa launched its new Te Au Moana Luau on Aug. 11. Performances will take place Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 4:30 pm. Guests will be greeted with a flower lei and encouraged to take part in a range of interactive Hawaiian crafts demonstrations. An unearthing of a traditional imu -- the underground oven used to steam the event's pig -- will follow, and guests can then enjoy a range of traditional luau fare buffet-style. Dishes include kalua pork, Molokai sweet potatoes, sauteed mahi mahi, lomi lomi salad, coconut haupia and, of course, poi. The three-act, hour-long performance showcases Polynesia songs and dances from Maui, Tahiti, the Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga and several ukulele routines. Prices are $98 for adults and $53 for children 6 to 12 with free admission for those under 5.
