Hawaii Resorts on Kauai’s east coast wrapping up $9M in upgrades By Shane Nelson / April 07, 2014 Share 1 -- Three resorts on Kauai’s Royal Coconut Coast are scheduled this year to finish renovations totaling more than $9 million. The largest investment has been made at the Kauai Sands Hotel, an oceanfront property receiving a complete overhaul to each of its guestrooms. Started in the fall of 2012, the $8 million renovation will also include a new restaurant and is slated to wrap up in June. Additionally, $700,000 is being spent on new living area furniture, air conditioning, kitchen tile and appliance improvements, and audiovisual upgrades to units at the oceanfront Pono Kai Resort. At the Plantation Hale Suites, 22 rooms are undergoing a $350,000 complete upgrade likely to be completed in mid-May, which will finish a large-scale renovation project that began in 2012.
