Delaware's beach lodgings are busiest in the summer, so book early for accommodations June-August. May and September are equally enjoyable months at the beach, and rates are lower and crowds smaller. For those who enjoy a brisk walk along a boardwalk in cooler weather, October and November are also good months, and most restaurants and other services are still open. December-March, a lot of beach establishments are closed or are open only on weekends. The ones that do stay open tend to have bargain rates. Most places require a two-night minimum for weekend reservations and a three-night minimum for holiday weekends.
