Location and History
The Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur was one of the city's first deluxe hotels with a strong reputation for its food and beverage outlets. The group expanded with several properties in Malaysia and, at one stage, Singapore, China and Vietnam. The group has been streamlined and now has just two properties—Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Its flagship Kuala Lumpur property was one of the city's oldest landmark hotels that opened in 1973 and ceased operations in April, 2012 to make way for the redevelopment of the site.
