Historic properties add interest to Portland's list of accommodations. Consider the restored 1927 Heathman Hotel (listed on the National Register of Historic Places), which serves tea amid original works of art; the Hotel Vintage Plaza, built in 1894 and whose rooms bear the names of Oregon wines; the 1912 Benson, a grand brick hotel; or the restored 1912 Multnomah (the Embassy Suites Downtown), which has played host to presidents and kings (Elvis Presley, at any rate).
Portland has added a barrage of boutique-hotels to its roster of fine accommodations. Many of these hotels are in LEED-certified buildings—Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design—which rates a building's "greenness."
