About 30 miles southeast of West Yellowstone and 40 miles northwest of the south entrance, Old Faithful Inn is the crown jewel in Yellowstone's thin but sparkling diadem of hospitality, a landmark that rivals the geysers and steaming rainbow pools within view.
This stately, turn-of-the-century log palace rises six stories and remains overwhelmingly the most popular lodging in the park.
It is an icon of the American West, and although Disney's remake in Orlando is probably more comfortable, there is nothing like the original to stir a sense of national pride.
