AMResorts entered the Cozumel market with the opening of the all-inclusive Secrets Aura Cozumel on Dec. 15.
The 168-room resort formerly was two resorts, the Sabor Cozumel Exclusive Resort & Spa and Aura Cozumel Grand, owned by Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal.
AMResorts assumed sales, marketing and management functions and rebranded the two resorts under the Secrets brand. Upgrades and modifications included the addition of nine oceanfront and oceanview rooms and renovations of all other guestrooms.
AMResorts added Secrets’ signature Bordeaux, Oceana and Windows eateries. A new shopping area is set to open in January.
Other facilities include three pools, a spa, fitness center and suites with private lap pools and swim-up options.
Guests have access to the nearby Chankanaab National Marine Park, the Punta Sur National Ecological Park and can golf at the Cozumel Country Club.
