Mexico Enjoying some grown-up time at the Azul Fives by Karisma By Meagan Drillinger / February 05, 2018 Share 1 The resort’s adults-only Villa 19 tower. -- I don't mind kids. I just prefer not to vacation around them. But I do like resorts with a lot of dining options, great pool scenes, a beautiful beach and luxury rooms. Unfortunately for me, sometimes the two overlap and I'm left sitting bitterly jaded by the family pool. I feel as though I'm not alone in that sentiment. Fortunately, Azul Fives by Karisma in Playa del Carmen recently debuted an entire section of the resort devoted to adults. The newly opened Villa 19 tower is made up of 53 luxury residences featuring one-, two- and three-bedroom resort residences as well as penthouses with pool, garden or cenote views. The penthouses are the suites to book for their rooftop hangouts with private hot tubs that look out over the entire resort and mangrove forests. Two- and three-bedroom suites are available, as well, designed with large groups in mind. Rooftop lounge decks feature a whirlpool tub for two, lounge area including a sofa and coffee table, chaise lounges ideal for sunbathing, pergola, barbecue grill and a marble half-bathroom with sink and shower. But the best part of Villa 19 is its proximity to the Natura Day Club & Grill, an adults-only hangout that has a new pool surrounded by sand as well as a restaurant, bar and DJ area. The Robinson Crusoe-esque hangout has a lounge, grill and bar that serves tropical cocktails, smoothies and healthy bites. A room at the Azul Fives by Karisma, which has designated an area of the resort as adults-only. While the rest of the resort is geared toward families, there are still experiences that can be enjoyed exclusively by adults. Club 82 Wine Bar, for example, is the Jackson Family Wines' first international tasting room. Zky Bar is a chic rooftop spot serving cocktails with views of the Caribbean Sea.Couples can take advantage of the private romance options, as well. Beachfront Sky Massages, canopied double beach beds with waiter service, in-room Jacuzzis for two and rooftop decks with double whirlpools are some examples of how couples can unplug and enjoy a kid-free oasis.Adults will also be able to enjoy enhancements coming to the rest of the property in 2018. Scheduled to debut this year are the Beach Club — showing off a newly enhanced main pool area, with 148 loungers and 40 cabanas, including a centralized circular bar that overlooks the beach and the pool — as well as a hammock garden, beach fire pit and yoga platform. And, should adults want to experience the rest of what the resort has to offer, there are eight Gourmet Inclusive restaurants, swim-up bars, nightly entertainment, the beach and a five-minute drive to downtown Playa del Carmen.Rates at Villa 19 start at $257 per adult, per night.
