Insight Mexico Insight New airlift, accommodations for Riviera Nayarit in 2017 By Meagan Drillinger / November 28, 2016 Share 1 -- Riviera Nayarit is turning the corner into the new year with a fresh list of developments, including new flights, hotel renovations and hotel openings.Earlier this year the destination debuted the W Punta de Mita Resort, the second W hotel in Mexico. The resort is part of the multiuse oceanfront development, Los Veneros. The resort is inspired by the local bohemian surf culture, a la Sayulita and San Pancho. The design of the hotel celebrates the local culture, from the blues of the Bay of Banderas to the traditional patterns of the local Huichol people.W Punta de Mita's Living Room lobby is inspired by a traditional palapa, and is anchored by a rectangular bar that replicates an altar. Above the bar is a chandelier with more than 450 LED lights designed to look like church votives. Scattered throughout the space are long strands of beads around small cocktail tables. Out on the Wet Deck are lounge chairs surrounding a pool with a DJ booth, all overlooking the beach. VIP cabanas are spread out around the perimeter, as well. The hotel has 119 guest villas including one Extreme Wow Suite. All villas and suites have private balconies or patios, artisanal Mexican tiled floors and headboards, as well as the signature W Bed and Bliss bath amenities. W Punta de Mita also offers five dining spaces. Mesa1 sits on its own private island in the middle of a lake and accommodates one seating daily. Spice Market serves pan-Asian cuisine, while Chevicheria is perfect for happy hour snacks. Venazu is the all-day dining venue serving Mexican specialties. Check into the 4,000-square-foot Away Spa, which is designed to feel like a forest cave. Other offerings include the Wave Surf Shop and a state-of-the-art fitness facility. In November, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita began welcoming guests to a newly renovated property, including a newly elevated spa, redesigned suites and a renovated adults-only pool. The multimillion-dollar renovation went into reformatting Apuane Spa, which has 13 expanded treatment rooms and a new private Apuane Suite. The newly expanded beauty salon includes a separate area for brides, as well. The two top suites, the Sol and Luna suites, also underwent redesigns. The Sol Suite doubled in size to nearly 7,000 square feet with five oceanfront bedrooms set on a private cliff. The four-bedroom Luna Suite offers 5,000 square feet of space, panoramic ocean views and a new private infinity pool. The resort's adults-only Tamai pool has been redesigned with new sun beds, hammocks, hanging chairs and palm-roofed palapas.
