Another visitor attraction has opened in Puerto Vallarta as part of the destination’s massive renovation program.
The reopening of the Los Muertos Port in the Olas Altas and Los Muertos beach areas, popular with tourists and locals for the variety of restaurants, bars and beach clubs, marks the completion of a two-year, $2.4 million project to connect the city to the numerous beaches that encircle the Bay of Banderas.
Puerto Vallarta hosted a street party earlier this month to celebrate the opening, complete with live music, skydivers, Mexican folk dancing and a fireworks show.
“This icon of the city is a reflection of the diverse products in Puerto Vallarta,” said Mayor Ramon Guerrero Martinez. “It is a sign of the thirst that the city has for projects that will update and make Puerto Vallarta the best city to visit in the Pacific.”
The new port is a curved structure that features a large pedestrian walkway, a waterfront promenade, night lighting and a landing dock that can accommodate up to six medium-size passenger boats that transport visitors around the bay and to its beaches in nearby Yelapa, Mismaloya and Los Animas.
The center tower of the port is lit up at night with colored spotlights.
