Sandos Hotels & Resorts has added an all-inclusive property in Cancun to its portfolio, joining its two other Riviera Maya resorts: the Sandos Caracol Eco-Resort & Spa and the Sandos Playacar Beach Resort & Spa.
The Sandos Cancun Luxury Experience Resort, the former Le Meridien operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts as a European Plan (room only) property, will reflag on March 1 as part of the Sandos all-inclusive collection.
The boutique, 214-room resort includes 74 Premium Level suites with access to private cabanas at the beach and pool, a private concierge service and complimentary WiFi, according to Jacques de Paep, director of sales and marketing.
“We’re putting the accent on luxury and experience to offer a personalized service unlike anything currently available in Cancun, including expansive culinary programs and a spectacular resort location,” de Paep said.
The property is highlighting original art in its lobby and public areas and has increased its staff-to-guest ratio.
During the renovation, Sandos added two more restaurants to bring the total to four.
“The resort will feature a different cuisine and menu every day at each restaurant; the menus will not be repeated once in two weeks,” he said.
Buffet service is offered at breakfast and lunch; dinner is a la carte in all the restaurants.
The all-inclusive plan, called the Total Gourmet Experience, includes all meals, unlimited drinks, 24-hour room service, all activities and access to a spa.
All-inclusive rates begin at $383 per room, per night, double through May and cover room, taxes and tips.
“We’re targeting the midscale couples market,” de Paep said. “Kids are welcome, but we are not offering kids’ programs or kids’ clubs.”
In a market crowded with all-inclusive resorts, the newest Sandos property intends to make its mark through its conversion of “an emblematic, stylish resort, which is what Le Meridien was, to a resort that now has the added attraction of avant garde cuisine overseen by an award-winning chef and his team,” according to de Paep.
Travel agents will play a key role in the newly flagged resort.
The Travel Agent Incentive Plan, already in place at the Riviera Maya properties, helps agents earn points for room nights, based on the volume of bookings.
September and October are travel agent fam months for Sandos hotels with discounted rates on three-night stays.
