Kenya gets yoga-friendly
Kenya’s Kinondo Kwetu resort on the Indian Ocean is offering an exclusive seven-night Yoga Retreat from Nov. 16 to 23 with morning and afternoon classes.
A special menu has also been created for the retreat, with cuisine designed to detoxify and revitalize. Participants can indulge in massages or beauty treatments and relax in the Finnish wood-fired sauna.
In addition to yoga, Kinondo Kwetu also offers power yoga, callanetics and Pilates classes. With callanetics, a personal trainer works in groups or private classes and goes through the whole body: cardio, core, strength and flexibility. The class will be adjusted based on fitness level and length of stay; and, should a guest be interested, the trainer can coordinate a program for the entire stay.
Located on a private beach south of Diani, Kinondo Kwetu is classified as a ‘Kaya” area (protected by the National Museum) due to its surrounding holy forests and sacred land.
The upcoming yoga retreat is for seven nights, with rates starting at $3,050 based on one person sharing a double or twin bedroom. This includes the daily morning and afternoon yoga classes; meals (including three-course lunch and dinners); a half-day safari trip to National Reserve Shimba Hills; excursions to the Kinondo Kwetu community works in the Kinondo village; canoeing, windsurfing and snorkeling gear; one in-pool diving lesson; tennis equipment and use of a court; limited laundry; and WiFi.
