Luxury desert camps to open in Botswana’s Kgalagadi

Ta Shebube will be opening three safari camps in Botswana in 2013: Rooiputs, Polentswa and Union's End, strategically located along
the predator-rich Nossob River Valley in the
Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

Boasting rugged scenic beauty in a remote, desert-like environment, the Kgalagadi is home to such predators as the black-maned
Kgalagadi lion, leopard, brown and spotted hyena, jackal and wildcat and
is one of Africa's best parks for the cheetah, which thrives by hunting
in the park’s fossil river valleys and surrounding dunes. Over 300 bird
species have also been recorded, and Nossob and Polentswa Pan are rated as some
of the best places to view raptors, particularly in summer.

Rooiputs, located about 15 miles north of the Twee Rivieren airport, will comprise 11
luxury thatched chalets; Polentswa and Union's End, located 120km north of Twee Rivieren,
will be classic tented camps capturing the romance of a
bygone era (nine and six tents, respectively).

All camps can be accessed by road, and there are daily flights from Cape
Town and Johannesburg into Upington. The Twee Rivieren airstrip is a 50-minute charter from Upington.

Construction on the camps started on September 10 with the first of the three, Rooiputs,
scheduled to open in early 2013.
