Green Safaris has announced it wants to revolutionize the safari industry in Zambia by introducing “silent safaris” using fully electric vehicles. The organization recently presented the eLandy, a fully electrical Land Rover, which will be used as a safari vehicle for game drives. It has complete off-road capabilities and is charged using solar energy. As the eLandy does not have a noisy diesel engine it will enable guests to experience the African bush in silence and in an environmentally friendly way. The expectations are that game drives will be more fruitful, more wildlife will be spotted as the vehicle will be able to get closer to the animals.
The new Moshi Safari Lodge in Kafue National Park in Zambia will be the first to use the eLandy, starting next season.
