Global Travel Marketplace (GTM), an event created by Travel Weekly, will debut July 24-26 at the Westin Diplomat Resort in Fort Lauderdale.
More than one-third of the travel agent buyer spots have been filled, and nearly two-thirds of the supplier spots are taken.
This event will enable top-producing agents to meet individually with suppliers. The vetting process has proven valuable, and is telling a story of the changing business models in today's travel agency environment.
Every individual who applies must meet strict criteria for consideration. About one-third of applicants do not make it through the process based on their productivity levels. Once the application threshold has been met, a rigorous vetting process ensues. Each agent is interviewed and provides references, and those references are checked and verified.
“The result is a true microcosm of the best-run books of business in today's travel agency community. The process of agent selection is critical to the success of this event for the participants and for the suppliers who are investing in it,” said Alicia Evanko, vice president/events for Northstar Travel Media.
Travel Weekly is only accepting 125 travel agents in North America to be guests at this inaugural event. GTM is an elite, appointment-only experience.
Agents who are selected will be fully hosted, and will have the opportunity to grow their supplier portfolio and build business relationships.
In order to be considered, travel agents must have annual individual sales of at least $1 million; a global book of business; a desire to meet with and discover new suppliers and destinations; and provide three travel industry references
Agents who think they qualify and are interested in attending can apply at www.globaltravelmarketplace.com. Less than 60 spots remain.
