The Ringling Museum in Sarasota opened its Center
for Asian Art on May 15.
Spread over more than 25,000 square feet, the $10.2
million center will display rotating exhibits from Ringling’s existing collection.
It also features a 125-person lecture hall.
In preparation for opening the Asian Art center,
Ringling renovated 18,000 square feet of museum space and constructed a new
three-story pavilion. The pavilion’s mosaic facade is covered in a green glaze
meant to evoke the jade found in Asian art.
Located along Sarasota Bay, the Ringling complex is
open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s also home to the Ringling Circus Museum and
the massive 1920s home of John Ringling, one of five brothers who owned the
famed circus. Admission is $25.
