Mandalay Bay hosts Wine Weekend Aug. 5-7

Aureole, Charlie Palmer’s Michelin-starred restaurant at the Mandalay Bay resort-casino, will host its Third Annual Aureole Las Vegas Wine Weekend Aug. 5 to 7.

The event will feature wine and food from around the world. Tickets, priced at $1,700 per couple, include a two-night stay at Mandalay Bay and access to all seven Aureole Las Vegas Wine Weekend events.

The welcome reception on Aug. 5, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., will feature a blind tasting event that will challenge guests to identify eight wines with Aureole master sommelier William Sherer and winemaker Rob Mondavi. Then, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., guests can enjoy a six-course Burgundian dinner and wine pairing with 16 wines, to be presented by Sherer and Chef Vincent Pouessel.

Saturday’s events start at 9 a.m., with a cooking class where guests will learn how to make an authentic Mexican breakfast. At 1 p.m., guest winemaker Artadi-Rioja will lead a tasting and blending seminar of Rioja grape varietals and components. Spanish tapas will be served. The Spanish Alta Cocina Dinner, at 7:30 p.m., will feature six courses of creative Spanish classical cuisine served with a selection of 16 Spanish wines.

Sunday begins at 9 a.m., with a tasting of seven Rieslings from Germany, Alsace and Austria. At noon, guests will enjoy two courses of authentic cheese and chocolate fondue from pastry chef Megan Romano. Six Swiss wines paired by Swiss wine authority Sebastien Gavillet will accompany the meal.
