USA Taste History Culinary Tours kicks off 2014 season By Katherine Ferrara / January 15, 2014 Share 1 -- Taste History Culinary Tours announced a 2014 schedule that includes visits to more than 30 eateries as well as historical buildings, art galleries and cultural spots in Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth and Lantana in Palm Beach County.This year’s tours kicks off on Jan. 18 with an epicurean cultural visit of Delray Beach and Boynton Beach. The four-hour, narrated excursion combines a bus ride and a four-to-six-block walking tour as it stops at three or four restaurants for tastings and visits historical buildings and cultural districts. Guests will meet restaurant owners and chefs as well as local artists and cultural center directors.“A primary accomplishment of the Taste History Cultural Tours is that is introduces the palate of local and family-owned eateries and local cultural centers where the tour is able to highlight their culinary talents, creative arts and educational initiatives,” said Executive Tour Director Lori J. Durante.Developed by Durante, the Taste History Culinary Tours of Historic Palm Beach County program is sponsored by Macy’s and established as a non-profit by the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History in 2011. The range of cuisine features farm-to-table and organic tastings, as well as delicacies from various cultures including African American, Southern American, Latin American, Brazilian, Caribbean, Greco-Roman, Italian, English, French, French Canadian, Irish, Australian, New Zealand, Hungarian, Turkish, and Ancient Mexican. The program has received numerous accolades including the “Approved” designation from the famed culinary website Tasting Table. United States Senator from Florida Bill Nelson has also supported the program calling it “excellent” and a “valuable service to….the community” because the tour features locally owned and family-owned business.The inclusive costs $40 per period and free for children under age 18 if accompanied by a paid adult family member. Tours take place on Saturdays, usually two or three times a month.
