A renovation project for the University of Nevada-Las Vegas’ Thomas & Mack Center arena was recently outlined to the Senate Finance Committee without any opposition.
The proposed $57.7 million project would allow for necessary improvements to the 30-year-old events center. It will remain open while the work is done.
Since opening in 1983, 21.7 million people have attended events at the 19,000-seat Thomas & Mack, home to the school’s Runnin’ Rebels men’s basketball team as well as the National Finals Rodeo. Out-of-state visitors attending events have spent more than $200 million in Las Vegas each year.
