Tourism Cares said Mike Rea will replace Bruce Beckham as the charity organization’s executive director on July 8. Beckham announced his retirement last fall.
Rea is currently a senior program officer with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in Seattle.
In 2001, he founded Give2Asia, which gave Rea “experience connecting a variety of donors to personalized, high-impact philanthropic activities,” Tourism Cares said.
Tourism Cares said Rea has traveled extensively, and that prior to his career in philanthropy he studied and published on the anthropology of tourism.
