American Cruise Lines offers Puget Sound sailings

By Michelle Baran
American Cruise Lines has introduced an eight-day cruise through the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands on the 100-passenger American Spirit.

The cruise will have eight weekly departures in spring, between April 6 and May 25, and another seven departures next fall between Sep. 14 and Oct. 26, 2013.

The cruise departs from Seattle then heads through the Puget Sound, then on to Anacortes and Friday Harbor, Wash.

It will then explore the San Juan archipelago, which consists of 170 islands and is home to seabirds, seals and sea lions.

The American Spirit will then sail to Port Townsend and Poulsbo, Wash., before returning to Seattle.

During the summer months, the American Spirit sails eight-day cruises of Alaska's Inside Passage.
