Avalon ships delivered ahead of schedule

By Michelle Baran

Avalon Waterways’ two newest vessels, the 166-passenger Avalon Vista and the 128-passenger Avalon Visionary, were delivered ahead of schedule, the company said last week.

The Avalon Vista was delivered to Avalon Waterways from the Den Breejen shipyard in the Netherlands in January, five months early. And the Avalon Visionary joins the fleet this week, approximately 10 days before the scheduled christening, according to Patrick Clark, managing director of Avalon Waterways.

A dual naming ceremony will be held on May 11 in Enkhuizen, Holland. The Avalon Visionary will sail Avalon's eight-day Romantic Rhine cruise, and the Avalon Vista will sail the 11-day Legendary Danube cruise, the 13-day Blue Danube Discovery, and the 15-day Magnificent Europe itinerary.

The Vista and Visionary will join the Avalon Panorama class of vessels, which feature cabins with wall-to-wall sliding glass balcony doors.
