Operator waives single supplement on Galapagos cruises

By Felicity Long

International Expeditions is responding to the jump in solo travelers by waiving the single supplement fee on several 2012 Galapagos cruises. The fees will be waived on departures set for Feb. 3 and 17; March 16 and 30; May 11 and 25; and Oct. 12 and 26.

“Over the past five years we have seen larger numbers of single travelers looking for safe, escorted travel to the world’s wildlife-rich regions,“ said company president Van Perry. The nine-night cruise on the 32-passenger yacht M/V Evolution features daily snorkeling and hiking through deserts, rain forests and volcanic terrain; a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Center; and an exploration of Santiago Island.

Passengers can also take advantage of an observation deck for whale watching, a canopied bar and free use of snorkeling equipment, wetsuits and kayaks.
Trips are accompanied by naturalist guides who specialize in the Galapagos.

Rates start at $5,098, including excursions, most meals, transfers and tips. For more, visit www.ietravel.com.
