During a presentation meant to reassure
tourists that it’s safe to travel in Japan, the presenter showed a chart from the Japan National Tourism Organization indicating that radiation levels in Tokyo and Sendai, the Japanese city north of the Fukishima power plant that leaked radiation after last year’s tsunami, are lower than in New York.
Upon closer look at the chart, TC noted that while Tokyo’s and Sendai’s numbers were measured by the Japanese government, a footnote to the New York level indicated that it was measured by a “private individual.”
TC doesn’t doubt the JNTO’s numbers but is a bit curious as to who this “private individual” might be.
