AA launches baggage-delivery service

Beginning today, American Airlines customers can bypass the airport baggage claim and have their bags delivered to their home, office or hotel.

AA has partnered with Bags VIP Luggage Delivery to launch the service, which is available in most major U.S cities, except Las Vegas.

The service also is available in the Bahamas, Aruba, Dublin and five Canadian cities (Calgary, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver).

The price is $29.95 for one bag, $39.95 for two bags and $49.95 for three to 10 bags, and is in addition to applicable checked-bag fees charged by the airline. Customers can buy the service at AA.com.

American said that for delivery locations within 40 miles from the airport, bags will arrive within one to four hours.

For customers who need their bags delivered between 41 and 100 miles from the airport, there will be an additional $1-per-mile charge and an estimated delivery time between four and six hours, the airline said.
