Aeromexico will have a new chairman, Eduardo Tricio Haro, after a group of investors led by Tricio Haro and Valentin Diez-Morodo acquired an additional 20.19% stake in the airline.

The investor group bought the stake from Banamex, a subsidiary of Citigroup. Banamex will maintain a 17.91% stake in the airline.

Banamex became Aeromexico’s controlling shareholder when the Mexican government sold its controlling stake to the company in 2007.

Tricio Haro, who personally has a 10% stake in Aeromexico, replaces Jose Luis Barraza Gonzalez as Aeromexico’s chairman. Tricio Haro is also chairman of Mexican dairy company Grupo Lala.

Diez-Morodo will be named vice chairman of the board. Andres Conesa will remain as Aeromexico’s CEO.
