Toncontin Airport in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, closed on Monday following a clash between the country's military and supporters of recently ousted president Manuel Zelaya, according to published reports.

The clash occurred minutes before a plane carrying Zelaya tried to land. According to reports, the military impeded the landing by parking vehicles in the middle of the runways.

The airport was expected to remain closed for 48 hours.

Airlines affected by the closure included American, Delta, Continental, Taca and Copa.
