By Jerry Limone

Alaska Airlines on Monday began flying between Maui and Oakland, Calif., four times a week.

On Tuesday, Alaska will begin thrice-weekly service between Oakland and the Big Island.

The new flights are operated with Boeing 737 aircraft that accommodate 16 passengers in first class and 141 in the main cabin.

All flights offer Hawaiian-themed beverages and meal service. Customers in the main cabin get complimentary macadamia nuts and a complimentary mai tai or POG juice.

Flyers in the main cabin may purchase a Hawaiian-themed meal for $6.
