Delta will move the headquarters for its Latin America/Caribbean region from Atlanta to Sao Paulo on Jan. 1.

Heading the operation will be Nicolas Ferri, Delta's vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean. He will be based in Sao Paulo.

Ferri's relocation to Brazil makes Delta the only U.S. carrier to have a vice president based in Latin America and underscores the increased focus and resources that the carrier is placing in the region's growth, according to Steve Sear, Delta's senior vice president of global sales.

"Under Ferri's leadership, Delta's revenue in Latin America and the Caribbean has grown 20% in the past two years," Sear said.

"Delta also has embarked on a company-wide transformation process to align our product and service offerings with the expectations of our growing Latin America customer base."
