Delta passengers may use PEDs under 10,000 feet in other countries

By Kate Rice
Delta said passengers now can use their portable electronic devices (PEDs) under 10,000 feet on international flights.

Delta and other U.S. airlines began enabling the use portable electronic devices gate-to-gate last fall on domestic flights.

The policy means travelers can use smartphones, e-readers and tablets in airplane mode during taxi, takeoff and landings in other countries.

Delta said that customers will be advised onboard by flight crews of any exceptions to the policy.

The airline said, "All of Delta and Delta Connection’s more than 1,250 aircraft completed carrier-defined PED tolerance testing to ensure the safe operation of passenger portable electronic devices during all phases of flight."
