The Senate on Thursday approved a bill that would end sequester-related furloughs of air traffic controllers, and thus end the furlough-related flight delays that have occurred throughout the U.S. since Sunday.
The measure would “provide the Secretary of Transportation with the flexibility to transfer certain funds to prevent reduced operations and staffing of the Federal Aviation Administration.”
The House is expected to vote on the bill on Friday.
The FAA said there were 863 flight delays on Wednesday attributable to staffing, and that here were more than 2,132 additional delays as a result of other factors, including weather.
