Several AA execs to depart

Several American Airlines executives will depart the airline, including chief commercial officer Virasb Vahidi, who oversees sales, marketing, alliances, revenue management and other areas.

US Airways CEO Doug Parker in an employee memo disclosed the cuts on Monday, the same day he announced the senior management team that will lead the new AA upon the closing of the merger with US Airways.

"Mergers unfortunately result in departures, and there are some on both teams, but I want to use this opportunity to specifically thank some of the outstanding senior executives at American," according to Parker, who included in that camp CFO Bella Goren, general counsel Gary Kennedy, senior vice president of operations Jim Ream and senior vice president of customer service Jon Snook, among others.

Parker did not disclose when those executives would depart. Parker indicated plans to name "additional officers in the weeks ahead," with a goal to "have the entire officer team selected by the time the merger closes, if not sooner."
