The Transportation Security Administration will delay a policy change that would allow pocket knives on commercial flights.
The TSA had planned to let passengers carry knives with blades up to 2.36 inches, starting on April 25, following a policy change announced by TSA chief John Pistole on March 5.
The delay will enable the airline industry, passenger advocates and law-enforcement experts to weigh in on what should be allowed on aircraft, according to a TSA statement.
Besides pocket knives, the TSA had been scheduled to allow passengers to carry on pool cues, hockey sticks, lacrosse sticks, golf clubs and novelty-size bats.
Opposition to the policy change came from aviation experts, lawmakers, passenger groups and the Flight Attendants Union Coalition, which represents 90,000 flight attendants.
