United Airlines CEO Jeff Smisek criticized the FAA furloughs of air traffic controllers during a conference call about United's first-quarter results.
The delays caused by furloughs are affecting about 20,000 passengers a day, according to the airline.
"We are disappointed that FAA chose this path," said Smisek. He said that the sequestration-related furloughs are causing "massive disruptions."
"Our top priority is to minimize effect on our customers," Smisek said. "Our professionals in our operations center are working 'round the clock to minimize the FAA's irresponsible actions on our customers."
