WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Kids can ride northwest Europe's high-speed
rails free this summer with a new promotion from Rail Europe here
and subsidiary DER, based in Rosemont, Ill.
As many as four children under age 12 can ride free of charge
with each adult traveling in first class on the high-speed Thalys
train between select cities in Belgium, France, Germany and the
Netherlands.
Tickets must be booked in North America from June 5 to Aug. 31
for travel between July 15 and Aug. 31.
Travel agent commission is 5% to 8%.
Sample routes from Paris (Gare du Nord station) valid with this
offer include Amsterdam, the Hague and Rotterdam in the
Netherlands; Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent in Belgium; and Cologne
and Dusseldorf, Germany.
First-class fares on the Thalys depend on the specific city
pairs; for example: Paris-Brussels costs $116; Paris-Amsterdam,
$156; and Brussels-Cologne, $64.
