Ground Transportation Uber reinstates service in San Antonio, Florida's Broward County By Danny King / October 21, 2015 Share 1 -- Ride-hailing service Uber last week reinstated service in both San Antonio and Florida's Broward County after local officials eased up on background-check regulations."In both places, local policymakers enacted rules that created burdensome barriers to entry for drivers, that included fingerprint background checks," Uber spokeswoman Natalia Montalvo said in a statement. "And after much debate, city leaders reversed their previous positions and endorsed Uber's background check process as the only mandatory requirement, thus opening the doors for Uber to operate again."Uber suspended operations in San Antonio in April, and did the same in Broward County, which includes Fort Lauderdale, in July. Uber at the time referred to Broward County as "one of the most hostile regulatory environments in the nation."
