GBTA withdraws arbitration claim against Georgia Business Travel Association

The Global Business Travel Association "elected to withdraw" an arbitration claim against the Georgia Business Travel Association and will explore "a local chapter membership plan for Atlanta and the surrounding local markets."

GBTA in July 2012 claimed its Georgia chapter breached its contract by announcing plans to wind down "exclusivity."

Within a month, the two sides were headed for arbitration.

"We feel the most productive course of action for us is to focus our time and resources on implementing the robust platform we are developing for the overall chapter system in the Atlanta market," according to a statement attributed to GBTA executive director Michael McCormick.

GBTA's "exploratory task force" for developing plans for the Atlanta area is led by Turner Broadcasting System director of corporate travel services Jim Wilkins.
