San Diego -- Milne Travel American Express will acquire the business travel side of Hewins Travel, a subsidiary of AAA Northern New England.

Scott MilneMilne Travel is American Express' largest franchisee in the northeastern U.S., owning and operating 10 locations.

Hewins Travel's retail locations will remain with AAA, and Steve Hewins, the company's founder, will continue as vice president of travel services for AAA Northern New England.

Hewins said in a statement that with leisure travel being the focus at AAA, he decided to pass the corporate travel side of his business to Milne, which focuses on business travel.

Scott Milne, president of Milne Travel American Express, said that once the merger is completed, the travel and entertainment spend of Milne Travel's business clients would top $100 million annually.
