Ovation Travel acquires Boston agency

By Jerry Limone

Ovation Travel Group, a New York-based travel management company, has acquired Commonwealth Travel Advisors of Boston.

Ovation was No. 21 on Travel Weekly’s 2010 Power List with $467 million in sales.

Commonwealth Travel Advisors, with offices in Boston and Westborough, Mass., offers corporate, meeting and leisure travel services. The agency’s management team, including CEO John Sullivan, will join Ovation.

"We gain for our clients the added cost savings and technological benefits of an industry-leading travel management company with customer service values we greatly respect," Sullivan said. "At the same time, CTA will continue to provide the local, personalized service our clients have come to enjoy and expect."

Ovation CEO Paul Metselaar said, "This business combination will complement our organic growth and should resonate well with professional service firms and other service-oriented businesses throughout the greater Boston area."

Ovation Travel Group includes Ovation Corporate Travel, Lawyers’ Travel Service and Ovation Vacations. Ovation is a member of the Radius network of corporate travel agencies.
