Another Bahamas hotel, the Royal Palms, closes

By Gay Nagle Myers

The 50-room Royal Palms Resort & Suites in Freeport, Grand Bahama, closed Nov. 4, the latest victim of falling occupancy and revenue.

Owner Mario Donato moved guests to another of his properties, the 186-unit Xanadu on the southwest coast of Grand Bahama, according to the Nassau Guardian.

Other Bahamas resorts that have closed this year are the Port Lucaya Resort & Yacht Club on Grand Bahama and the Four Seasons Great Exuma at Emerald Bay.

Sandals has since purchased the Four Seasons resort, which will emerge as the Sandals Emerald Bay, Great Exuma on Jan. 22.
