WICHITA, Kan. -- Candlewood Suites added two new properties in the
past month, one in Durham, N.C., and another in Green Bay, Wis.
The arrivals bring the Wichita, Kan.-based company's portfolio
to 85 hotels.
The 122-room Durham hotel is located at the southwest corner of
the city's Research Triangle Park, just off Interstate 40 at 1818
East Highway 54, and is the fifth Candlewood Suites in North
Carolina.
Nearby businesses include IBM, Glaxo Wellcome and Ericsson. Duke
University also is nearby.
Rooms have complete kitchens, recliners, 25-inch televisions,
two phone lines and data ports.
The franchised hotel, owned and operated by a local company,
also has a boardroom that can seat up to 10 people.
The Green Bay Candlewood Suites is near a handful of businesses
and is located southeast of downtown at 1125 E. Mason St., about 10
miles from Austin Straubel Airport.
The property has 86 rooms, including 12 one-bedroom suites, 53
studio suites and 21 studio double suites. These are the first
studio double suites in the Candlewood system. The rooms have two
full-size beds.
Candlewood also announced the beginning of construction on two
other hotels, one in Southern California and the other in Topeka,
Kan.
The Orange County Airport Candlewood Suites, set to open in
March 2001, will be the company's fourth property in Southern
California. It will have 122 suites, including 98 studio suites and
24 one-bedroom suites.
Candlewood will add a hotel in its home state next year, with
the opening of the Candlewood Suites in Topeka. The 80-suite hotel
will be located off Interstate 70.
