Couples Resorts concluded negotiations for the acquisition of the 280-room Almond Casuarina Beach Resort in Barbados. Couples takes over Feb. 10.

Under Couples management, the property will operate as Casuarina Beach Resort through May 31, offering the same facilities and amenities currently being provided.

From Feb. 10 through May 31, Couples will do a $3 million upgrade that will include new décor and amenities in public areas and guest rooms, a new pool and Jacuzzi, a new spa and salon, a new gym and a yoga-designated gazebo, and a piano bar/lounge.

Effective June 1, the resort will be rebranded Couples Barbados and will become the island's first all-inclusive resort for adult couples.

Couples has four all-inclusives in Ocho Rios (Tower Isle and Sans Souci) and Negril (Swept Away and Negril).

The all-inclusive plan at Couples Barbados will include use of the internet café and WiFi, all drinks, gourmet dining, in-room dining, 24-hour food service, personalized mini bars, taxes and tips.

Additional complimentary perks will include roundtrip airport transfers; weddings and vow renewals; transfers and and greens fees at the Barbados Golf Club; a glass-bottom boat ride; a catamaran cruise and scuba dive; and shuttle to the weekly fish fry in nearby Oistin's.
