The second Edition hotel in New York is due to open in 2017.
The 452-room property will be located across from Times Square on Seventh Avenue and 47th Street.
The site will include 100,000 square feet of shopping, dining and entertainment space, as well as an 18,000-square-foot high-definition LED sign.
The property will be developed by a group led by Witkoff Group and Winthrop Realty Trust. Barry Sternlicht’s Starwood Capital also has an equity stake in the hotel.
The boutique Edition brand is a collaboration between Marriott International and hotelier Ian Schrager.
New York’s first Edition is scheduled to open in New York’s Clock Tower near Madison Square Park next year. That hotel was part of a trio of Edition-branded properties that Marriott is selling to Abu Dhabi Investment Authority for $815 million.
The other two hotels are the 173-room London Edition, which opened in October, and the Miami Edition, which is slated to open later this year.Follow Danny King on Twitter @dktravelweekly.
